VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Contact: "Emily Overholser" eoverhol@gmail.com

As some or all of you may know, the 2008 ACDCA National Specialty is rapidly
approaching. We're going to need lots of volunteers, so I figured I'd jump
the gun and get my volunteers in now! :-)

I'm looking for a few good men and women to help out in two different events
during the Specialty.

On Sunday September 28, I need ring crew volunteers for the Obedience
trial. Your mission: to be a pole for figure 8's, or to help move
jumps/set bars, or to place help place articles for utility, or to fetch
coffee for the judge. These are easy jobs folks, no experience is
necessary. If you've never seen an obedience trial, this is a great way to
watch how the whole thing is done.

On Monday, September 29th, I also need several volunteers to help out with
health clinics. This could be as easy as helping to sort/keep track of
paperwork, scanning dogs for microchips, organizing participants as they
come in the door etc. Basically, I need several jack-of-all-trades. The
more the merrier of course. If I get enough volunteers, my plan is to have
shifts for workers, so no one needs to stay there all day.

I'm also still looking for a vet or vet tech who may be available to do
microchipping that day.

To volunteer for these events or to get more information on the health
clinics, obediance trials etc. please contact me eoverhol @ gmail.com

Don't all volunteer at once and fill up my Inbox! :-)

STALL RENTAL

1 week $60.00
Indoor box stalls (~10'x10') are available for rental as set up areas.  Electricity is available.  Stalls are great as crate storage/grooming areas.

Dogs may be left confined at the site during the day and may be left confined at the sit overnight.  A Security Guard will be on duty overnight, however, all belongings (dogs included) left at owner's own risk.  Damage to stalls will be assessed and fined on a case by case basis, if needed.

Rent Your Stall Online Here

Send Rental Request to:
Deb Mills
222 Memorial Drive
Bath PA 18014

Stalls may also be rented at the specialty pending availability.

HEALTH ALERT!

It's no joke! It is endemic to the area and that means extremely prevelant. The campground is in a wooded area and there are brushy areas near the showsite. Deer ticks are exceedingly small and You Will Not See Them on your dog. Lyme disease can be deadly. Please use appropriate tick preventatives on your dog and examine both dogs and humans carefully for ticks!

Q: What is Dingo Bingo?

A: Dingo Bingo is a great stress reliever and, by far, the most lively social event of the specialty! The Dingo in Dingo Bingo gives a whole new meaning to the traditional game played in church basements. Dingo Bingo is played like the traditional game, except winners shout out, “Dingo” and all the prizes are dog related

This is an important fund raising event for the ACDCA, so we encourage everyone to come play for the fun and prizes, and to donate items. Prizes are donated by vendors, individuals and various local merchants.

Send your donations for Dingo Bingo to:
Rose Jurain
177 Bedell Dr
Port Jervis, NY 12771
email herddog@optonline.net

Q: When will premiums be out?

A: Usually they appear in the mailbox in July; but this year we are dealing wih totally new-to-us superintendents and it could vary. As soon as electronic versions of entries, premiums, and other forms are available, they will be posted here http://acdca2008.com/forms.html

Q: Could you please email more information about the various classes that offer prize money at the fall show, and also what the eligibility requirements for entry are? Many thanks!

A: The only classes that have cash prize money are sweepstakes classes; which are non-regular classes; meaning you get no points from winnning anything in these classes. The requirements are age; your dog must be 6 months or over; and under 21 months of age. The dog must also be AKC registered; and in order to enter Sweepstakes, you also must enter a regular class at the Specialty; again in your age group.

Conformation classes at a specialty are divided into non-regular and regular classes. Non-regular classes are those in which competition does not lead to AKC championship points which are Sweeps.

I suggest that you read the this information about dog shows:
http://www.akc.org/events/conformation/beginners.cfm
http://www.akc.org/events/conformation/faqs.cfm

Q: What are the requirements for Rescue Versatility Competition and How do I sign up to compete?

A: Rescue Versatility Requirements and Intent form

Q: What happened to the AHBA Herding Trial following the specialty herding trials?

A: It has been cancelled
